In Greene County district court Robert Antonio Hadley, 38, of Jefferson was found not guilty of indecent exposure- two counts at a jury trial Jan. 27. The charges were dismissed.
Brittany Kay Smith, 38, of Jefferson was sentenced Jan. 27 to two years in prison after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana- second offense. The prison term was suspended and she was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any treatment recommendations at her own expense. She was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; both were suspended. The court ruled Smith is unable to pay restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees and court costs. A charge of possession of methamphetamine- second offense was dismissed as part of a plea agreement. A charge in magistrate court of possession of drug paraphernalia was also dismissed. Barbara Jon Pergrande, 52, of Webster City was fined $105 with a $15.75 surcharge on a charge of harassment- simple, amended from domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness. She must also pay $200 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees and $131.50 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty to charges as follows: Duane Edward Forkner, 59, of Jefferson, assault causing bodily injury or mental illness; Issiaha Keegel, 29, of Grand Junction, theft- fifth degree against older individual and operate vehicle without owner’s consent; and Paul Anthony Duckett, 17, of Jefferson, assault causing bodily injury or mental illness, and in a separate case, harassment- first degree. Trial dates were set for April 7 in every case.
Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Dakota William Ocker, 23, of Ames, harassment- second degree; Hannah Marie Ladehoff, 23, of Jamaica, criminal mischief- second degree- (two counts), theft- third degree, attempted burglary- third degree (two counts), and theft- fourth degree; Melissa Sue Larson, 47, of Jefferson, unlawful possession of prescription drug (four counts); child endangerment (two counts), possession of controlled substance- third or subsequent offense (four counts), failure to affix tax stamp (two counts), and controlled substance violation (three counts); Joshua Jack Sparks, 17, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana and burglary- third degree; Christopher Herbert Lawrence, 45, of Ames, attempted murder, leaving the scene of an accident- injury, driving while license barred, stalking- possession dangerous weapon, criminal mischief- first degree, willful injury causing bodily injury, domestic abuse assault- third or subsequent offense, assault while displaying dangerous weapon, and operate vehicle without owner’s consent, and in a separate case in magistrate court, violation of a no contact order- two counts and interference with official acts; Karen Gay LeClaire, 64, of Scranton, domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness; and Christopher Robert Ciesla, 61, of Jefferson, purchase/possess depiction of minor in sex act- five counts.
